Hello again!
This is a post to give an update of what has come of my internship. In my previous post I talked a lot about the job of an intern onboard. What I did not get to mention is the other opportunity I had as an intern. Being Carnival's inaugural year to run this program, they wanted to get a perspective of what a day in the life of an intern was. They decided the best way to get this perspective was to have four interns document their daily routine. The company choose two interns from both the Entertainment Staff and Youth Staff. I was one of the interns picked to be filmed and followed throughout my time onboard. Oddly enough, two of the four interns chosen to be on the documentary came from Texas A&M University, WHOOP! The basics of our documenting duties was to film what we did everyday and provide confessionals of what we were going through physically and mentally. This documentary was heavily based on the participation and dedication of the four participating interns. The professional film team was only able to come on board once to film leaving the majority of the filming to be done on our time. What the film team quickly learned is that our time as interns is extremely limited. As great of a project the documentary was, in the end it was unable to be completed. Regardless of the completion of the original project, the footage collected by film crew was good footage. This is where the update comes in. They have recently reached out to me to say they will be using that footage to create a promo video for the internship program. In addition, the footage was used to create a commercial for the new ship, the Carnival Horizon, coming out in 2018 (link at the bottom). This is not a typical part of the job but the great thing about this internship is the spontaneous nature of the work environment. So If you like to go to work and do something different everyday, like hosting a deck party or filming a commercial, look into this internship! Also keep an eye out for the promo video coming out soon featuring yours truly! Link to the commercial: Meet the Carnival Horizon
